Paul Thompson is a military historian who specializes in the Napoleonic Wars. He has penned numerous published articles on topics ranging from analyses of the Salamanca and Walcheren campaigns to cricket and bullfighting in the Peninsular War. He is the author of The British Cheer: Psychological Warfare in the Napoleonic Era (2023) and ‘Your Excellency’s Name Will Resound Here for All Time’: Sir Nicholas Trant and the Common Cause. Portugal 1808-1814 (forthcoming in 2026).
